I was just out rollerblading when, inexplicably, I felt myself slowing down. It was almost like somebody was tugging at my right skate.
While I’m slowing down I look down and notice something thread-like behind the skate. My first thought is that it must be chewing gum, before, a split second later, I realise it’s a fishing line!!
As I come to a halt, I manage to locate and pull out a hook (!) lodged deep into my back rubber wheel. Have I just become world’s first-ever rollerblader catch?
The explanation goes as follows: The Minneapolis Greenway trail crosses over a narrow canal connecting Lake of the Isles and Lake Calhoun, and that’s where a handful of teenage anglers, apparently with terrible casting skills, practice their urban hunting-gathering.
The boys were very apologetic, so I reluctantly fought the temptation to gut them…
